Ever feel like you’ve been doing the same ole thing over and over with the same ole poor results? That’s time wasted. Time we could’ve spent with God or doing something He wanted us to do. Or what about thinking about stuff that is unhealthy or not good for our spiritual growth? That’s time wasted also. Every moment we spend doing something that’s not mentally, physically, or spiritually healthy, we waste more and more time. We spend too much time there. And we can’t get time back. So, move on!
We spend a lot of time worrying about how to fix things, how we’re going to pay bills, how we or someone we know will overcome sickness or poor health. We spend too much time there. Stop, wasting time! God has already given us the answers. Isaiah 43:2 reads, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” And Psalm 91:1-2 says, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.”
God is a faithful God and if we trust in Him, our plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3 reads, “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” So, let’s spend more time loving God and praising Him for all he does, and will do. Let’s celebrate the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God alone is worthy of such praise and admiration. Philippians 4:19 reads, “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” God will take care of you too, so you can spend your time more wisely; trusting in Him, growing closer to Him, serving Him and others, and loving Him and others more. He will do the rest, just like He promised.
My church pastor preaches using a method called S.O.A.P., Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. This method not only emphasizes reading the word but helps us look deep into what the scripture is saying. Then it focuses on applying that knowledge in our own lives and praying about it regularly. This may be the best method I’ve heard to help people grow in the Lord. Now relate it to all the time you’ve been wasting. Had we been reading and washing with SOAP, we could have had a deep spiritual cleansing by now; body, soul, and spirit; and our relationship with God would be awesome.
A part of scripture that says it for me is 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It reads, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” People of the world, let’s spend more time, here. Let’s allow God to cleanse us and heal us, and then use us to help cleanse and heal others and the world. To God be the glory!
