Our prayers are like incense to God. He puts them in a bowl and hears them as He pleases, over and over, or all together. The book of Leviticus constantly spoke of how incense was soothing to God. David, a man after God’s own heart wrote in Psalm 141:2, “Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering.” And it pleases Him that we reach out to Him. That reaching out helps us to establish and build a relationship.
Incense became more important to God over the years. Malachi wrote is 1:11, “But my name is honored by people of other nations from morning till night. All around the world they offer sweet incense and pure offerings in honor of my name. For my name is great among the nations,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” A spiritual worship shall be established. Incense shall be offered to God’s name, which signifies prayer and praise.” Relationship is worship to our God and our King as the angels and Intercessor work on our behalf.
This relationship is exactly what The Almighty wants with us, for us to seek Him, to seek His face. Psalm 27:8 reads, “You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” The Psalm is all about growing closer to God. Growing closer includes having a little talk with Him through prayer. Revelation 5:8, “And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” They worshiped Him, in heaven, holding our prayers in golden bowls.
The soothing aroma of incense presented properly to the Lord pleases Him. Revelation 8:3, “Then another angel with a gold incense burner came and stood at the altar. And a great amount of incense was given to him to mix with the prayers of God’s people as an offering on the gold altar before the throne.” Incense, properly presented, is soothing to our Lord. Let us develop and cultivate our relationship in prayer daily; growing in love with Him, and each other. Then we can approach His throne with boldness to receive grace and mercy in time of need. Lord, I love You! And you my friend, I love you too.
