CLUTTER

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”  (Romans 12:2)

Sometimes our minds get filled with all kinds of stuff that keep us from focusing on the things we should, like God, family, friends, life, selfcare, and probably in that order.  And our adversary, the fallen angel Satan, wants to keep it that way.  The more our minds are on other things, the easier it is for him to draw us to the dark side where he lives.  He put in the heart of Judas to betray Jesus in John 13, and in Acts 5, he put in the hearts of Ananias and Sapphira to lie about a monetary pledge they made.  He puts things in our hearts too, but sorry dude, but I don’t want to reside there.

How do we overcome the grip of the deceiver?  In 1 Corinthians 2:11 we read, “No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.  And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.”  We are either of God’s Spirit or the world’s spirit.  And when the world’s spirit has access, our thoughts and our ways will be of the world.  Our mind will be full of clutter, things useless for the Kingdom of God and hindering our chance of salvation.  Let it go now!   Don’t let clutter block the Way to heaven.  Resist the devil, submit to God, put on the full armor of God, and keep our minds on heavenly things.  We need to declutter our minds, declutter our lives, and we should start by recognizing the schemes of the deceiver.  Have you ever heard the phrase the devil likes company?  He will keep our minds distracted while he and his angels wreak havoc in our lives.  Satan wants us in hell with him, so we need to be careful who we hang out with.
