A Simple Prayer

Heavenly Father,

I ask to approach your throne this morning, with a bit of gratitude – gratitude for waking us this morning, and allowing us to be present in this assembly, to worship you together.  Now if it pleases you Lord, I ask that you’ll accept a simple prayer, on behalf of all people.

I offer, a simple prayer for love – that we would love one another as you have loved us – remembering Lord that You are Love, and You call us to not merely say that we love each other; but to show the truth by our actions.

A simple prayer for healing – that those of us with physical and mental challenges and afflictions, would be healed through your power if it’s your will; and if not dear Lord, may we be encouraged by the fact we are blessed enough to be here to worship you today; and for those who could not come in person, we ask your healing hands on their bodies and on their hearts.

I offer a simple prayer for peace – that our military family will have peace from wars abroad, our church family peace from spiritual warfare, and our biological family peace from internal struggles that Satan uses, to separate us further from you.

A simple prayer for contentment – that we accept all that you’ve entrusted to our care as a gift from you, and be content with what we have; to not seek riches elsewhere, when You are the richest; to not allow materialism and envy of others to overtake us, when You are all we need.

A simple prayer for acceptance and inclusion – that we would never feel ourselves above our fellow countrymen, or brothers and sisters throughout the world, knowing that one day, we have to stand before you as equals. May the hate and racism cease and love prevail.

I offer a simple prayer for community – the harvest is plentiful; motivate each of us Lord, to be better servants and laborers in the field, to prevent a few, from having to carry the workload of the entire church.

A simple prayer for blessings – bless you Lord oh my soul, and may your words be continually in our mouths; we ask Your blessings for leadership at every level, from our homes and clergy, to the President and Vice-President, their families, and the cabinet; we ask blessings on our economy, that minimal jobs would be lost during these tough times, and the unemployed can find work quickly; we ask that the turnaround is close at hand, and those struggling can have relief; we ask a very special blessing on the least of these, remembering, that what we do for them, we do it also unto You.

I offer a simple prayer for boldness – give us the boldness to come before Your gracious throne, to receive grace and mercy in time of need; not allowing our pride, ego, and circumstances, to stand between us and the assistance we long for so desperately.

A simple prayer of praise – for You have shown Yourself to be awesome in all our lives; we say glory hallelujah to You risen King; You alone are worthy; and there is no praise, simple enough to express that.

And finally Lord, I offer a simple prayer of thanks – thank you for being our God, and adopting us into your family; we thank you for Jesus, and for loving us enough, that You allowed His blood to be spilled on a cross to redeem us; forgive us for our sins which Christ Jesus carried to that cross; help us to be more like You; thank you for not being like us; we say thanks Almighty God, for all You do in our lives; in Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
